Eric Jacobson's powerful statement about fracking, now on view upstate

jacobson3.jpg

Eric Jacobson is one of fourteen sculptors displaying artwork at the Highland Falls Artwalk 2018 in Highland Falls, NY, now through October. Eric created this constructed sculpture, Drill Tower IV, as a statement on the after-effects of hydraulic fracturing, also known as fracking. Although we’ve been led to believe that fracking is safe, there have been earthquakes in Oklahoma and Texas, as well as polluted drinking water in Pennsylvania as a result of it. Drill Tower IV is a four-foot steel piece that is from a series of towers created by Eric. This one appears to be bent over as if hit by an earthquake brought on by fracking.

On view now through October in Highland Falls, NY. Located adjacent to the West Point Military Academy on the Hudson, the art festival will have an opening ceremony on June 9th. Info and directions here.
