An art teacher's response to March for Our Lives

Joyce Riley made and carried this poster at the NYC March for Our Lives. Joyce says: “ I was really excited to participate in the March for Our Lives last weekend. I started teaching the year Columbine happened and there has been a steady stream of school shootings ever since. The lockdown drills in my own classroom are very unsettling and knowing my six year old has a similar drill in his first grade classroom makes me want to cry. Our country has been idle in making any kind of change around guns. The students of Parkland have been such a light. I am so proud of ALL of our nation’s students. I marched last weekend to support them. Also to say, the only guns you’ll find me packing are a glue gun, a staple gun and a tape gun (forgot that one in the poster).”
